The Renault 5 E-Tech electric has been updated for model year 2027 (MY27). It now offers up to 259 miles of official WLTP range, gains new driving and connected features, and has more colour and interior choices. Renault says prices remain unchanged.
For drivers considering a compact electric car, the extra range is the headline change. Updates to the car’s aerodynamics and battery electronics help both versions travel further between charges.
How far can the MY27 Renault 5 travel?
| Version | Battery | Power | Official WLTP range |
|---|---|---|---|
| Urban Range (evolution) | 40kWh | 120hp | Up to 197 miles |
| Comfort Range (techno+, iconic five+ and roland garros+) | 52kWh | 150hp | Up to 259 miles |
WLTP figures provide a useful comparison, but real-world range will vary with speed, weather, terrain and use of heating or air conditioning. The 40kWh version may suit shorter daily journeys, while the 52kWh version gives drivers more flexibility for longer trips.
What else is new for MY27?
SmartMode automatically switches between Eco, Comfort and Sport according to how the car is being driven. Drivers can still select a mode themselves through the OpenR Link touchscreen or by voice command.
There is also a cooled Qi2 wireless charger for compatible phones and an updated 4G/5G eCall system. Google Gemini is planned as an optional over-the-air update to Google Assistant, bringing more conversational voice interaction to the car. Renault describes this update as coming soon, so it is worth checking availability when choosing a vehicle.
Renault is adding Flame Red and Shadow Grey to the colour range later in the year, alongside new sticker packs. Midnight Blue on techno+ and iconic five+ gains a contrasting red roofline. Inside, iconic five+ replaces its yellow upholstery with a mottled blue design.
How much does the MY27 Renault 5 cost?
Renault advertises the MY27 evolution Urban Range from £21,495, with its applicable Electric Car Grant already included. Renault says MY27 prices have not increased.
The grant differs by battery version. The government currently lists the 52kWh Renault 5 in Band 1, worth up to £3,750, and the 40kWh version in Band 2, worth up to £1,500.
