The Kia EV2 has become the latest electric vehicle to qualify for the UK's maximum £3,750 Electric Car Grant (ECG), making Kia's newest compact SUV even more affordable for private buyers.

Following the recent announcement that selected Kia EV4 models qualify for the highest level of Government support, the EV2 Long Range now joins the list, with prices starting from just £24,245 on-the-road after the grant has been applied.

More value for drivers considering the switch to electric

The Government's Electric Car Grant is designed to make electric vehicles more accessible, rewarding manufacturers that meet strict sustainability and environmental manufacturing standards.

For the Kia EV2, the maximum £3,750 grant applies to all Long Range models equipped with the 61.0kWh battery, including:

  • EV2 Air Long Range

  • EV2 GT-Line Long Range

  • EV2 GT-Line S Long Range

These models offer up to 275 miles of all-electric driving range (WLTP) while maintaining Kia's impressive levels of standard equipment, making the EV2 an attractive option for commuters, families and company car drivers alike.

The EV2 First Edition also remains eligible

Customers choosing the Kia EV2 First Edition will also continue to benefit from Government support.

While this launch edition doesn't qualify for the maximum Band 1 grant, it remains eligible for the £1,500 Electric Car Grant, reducing its on-the-road price to £26,995.

Kia continues to expand its grant-eligible EV range

The EV2 becomes Kia's latest model to benefit from the Government scheme, joining the EV4, EV3 and PV5 Passenger.

Current qualifying Kia models include:

  • Kia EV2 – selected Long Range models receive £3,750

  • Kia EV3 – selected models receive £1,500

  • Kia EV4 – selected models receive £3,750

  • Kia PV5 Passenger – selected models receive £1,500

Kia is currently one of only a small number of manufacturers whose vehicles qualify for the highest level of Electric Car Grant funding, reflecting the company's investment in sustainable manufacturing and lower-emission production.

What is the Electric Car Grant?

The UK Government's Electric Car Grant provides financial support towards eligible new electric vehicles that meet strict criteria around sustainability, vehicle efficiency, warranty provision and responsible manufacturing.

Manufacturers must also have validated Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) commitments, demonstrating credible plans to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and achieve net-zero in line with internationally recognised climate targets.
